The District 10 boys’ and girls’ basketball playoffs get off to an early start tonight, before packed weekend of activity involving local teams.

Tonight the defending Class 3A champion Sharon Tigers will host Iroquois at 7 p.m. The game is early because of the Section wrestling tournament at Sharon High Friday and Saturday.

The remaining boys’ schedule, set for Friday at 7 p.m., shows:

Class 2A: West Middlesex at Maplewood, Mercer at Youngsville, Union City at Wilmington, Saegertown at Lakeview. Farrell, Rocky Grove, Cambridge Springs and Cochranton have byes.

Class 3A: Erie First Christian Academy at Girard, Seneca at Greenville, Northwestern at North East. Franklin, Mercyhurst Prep, Fairview and Sharpsville have byes.

Class 4A: George Junior Republic at Titusville, Oil City at Conneaut Area, Gen. McLane at Slippery Rock, Fort LeBoeuf at Corry. Hickory, Warren, Harbor Creek and Grove City have byes.

Class 6A: Kennedy Catholic v. Erie at Grove City High.

Other boys pairings:

Class 1A championship Feb. 28 — Jamestown v. Commodore Perry. 

Class 5A championship, Feb. 18 — Cathedral Prep v. Meadville


The girls’ schedule, set for Saturday at 7 p.m. unless noted, shows:

Class 2A: Cochranton at Commodore Perry; Iroquois at Mercer. Sharpsville, Maplewood, West Middlesex, Saegertown and Cambridge Springs have byes.

Class 3A: North East at Seneca. Greenville, Fairview, Northwestern, Mercyhurst Prep, Lakeview and Girard have byes.

Class 5A: Franklin v. Meadville at Cochranton High, 3 p.m. Warren, Grove City, Gen. McLane, Slippery Rock, Corry, Harbor Creek, Hickory have byes.

Other girls pairings:

Class 1A championship Feb. 29 — Kennedy Catholic v. Farrell.

Class 4A championship Feb. 22 — Villa v. Fort LeBoeuf
