HERMITAGE – Another Mercer County landmark returned Monday at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course – “The longest and oldest continuous high school golf tournament in the country,” the Tamie Invitational.
Ellwood City edged Conneaut Area on a tiebreaker for the team title. At the 39th annual event, the teams tied in regulation with 340 strokes; however, Ellwood edged CASH as Milo Sesti shot 80, 3 strokes better than Conneaut Area’s medalist.
For medalist honors, Corry’s Tyler Hasbrouck shot 5-over-par 77, a scant 2 strokes better than Slippery Rock’s Jack Hadley.
Following Ellwood City and CASH in the team standings were Saegertown (346), Laurel (347), Corry (350), Slippery Rock (360), Greenville (367), Gen. McLane (372), Mohawk (374), Erie (376), Riverside (385), Lakeview (387), West Middlesex (400), Wilmington (401), Mercer (403), Union (427), Reynolds (459) and Sharon.
Rounding out the individual top 10 behind Hasbrouck and Hadley were Sesti (80) and his teammate Joey Hudson (81). Also, Erie’s Kyle Westfall and Slippery Rock’s Logan Wolak (82), and CASH’s Cooper Baum, Wilmington’s Kaitlyn Hoover, Sharon’s Jake Cattron and CASH’s Andrew McKalip (83).

District 10 Qualifier
Defending District 10 Class 2A champion Grove City defeated Hickory, 324-331, on Monday at The Country Club of Meadville to advance to this week’s District 10 Championships.
The D-10 Championships run Thursday-Saturday at The Country Club of Meadville.
With the 18-hole playoff win, the Eagles won the Region 2 title – their 3rd straight region crown.
Toby Matson fired a 77 to lead the way for Grove City while Sam Norris carded a 79. Hunter Harris and Tanner Hohmann shot 84s.
Cameron Colbert led Hickory with a 79, Nick Osborne shot an 80, Connor Evans had an 84 and Josh Cidila an 88.
Coach Dennis Ranker’s Grove City squad won the D-10 team title by 5 strokes last year. GC shot a 346 and Fairview had 351 strokes. Other teams competing last season were Corry (356), Saegertown (367) and Lakeview (383).
• Wilmington 1, Mercer 0 – At Lamor Road Field, Lindsey Martineau scored in the 2nd half to lead the Lady Hounds (4-1) past Mercer.
Martineau took a pass over the top from Reese Walker and fired in the game’s lone goal.
Leah Gerstnecker made 1 save in the shutout for Wilmington.
• Slippery Rock 6, Sharon 0 – At Tiger Stadium, Amanda Lewis and Emma Hays had 2 goals each to lead the Rockets to the Region 2 win.
Isabelle Wilson and Olivia Rock scored the other goals for Slippery Rock and Bronwyn McCoy posted the shutout in goal.
Katie Krecek made 22 saves in goal for the Lady Tigers (1-4).
• Kennedy Catholic 6, West Middlesex 1 – At Hermitage, Bellah DiNardo had a hat trick as KC picked up the Region 1 win over the Ms. Reds.
Sophia Lombardi added a pair of goals for the Golden Eagles and Julianne Johnson also scored. Gigi Lepore was the winning keeper.
Sophomore Taylor Moore scored for WM. Reds’ senior goalie Kasey Gerhardt registered 29 saves.
• Hickory 10, West Middlesex 0 – At Hornet Stadium, Brady Robison had 4 goals as the Hornets rolled past the Big Reds.
Antonio Giuseppucci and Paul Morrelli added 2 goals each for Hickory and Nick Scarvel and Michael Orendi fired in the other goals.
Julian Hudson and John Koprivnak split time in goal for the Hornets.
• Brookfield 2, Maplewood 2 – At Brookfield, Coach Jen Russo’s Warriors and the Rockets from Cortland finished in a tie.
Grant Abraham and Laven Branham scored for Brookfield. Colin Murphy had 1 assist and Austin Sees made 18 saves in goal for the Warriors.
• Hickory 3, Farrell 0 – At “The Hive” in Hermitage, Coach Chris Caputo’s Hornets improved to a perfect 5-0 with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-21 non-region sweep over the Lady Steelers.
