Farrell High coach Jarrett Samuels is a veteran of playoff football, both as a player and as a coach. That’s why he was happy to renew a backyard rivalry with Hickory after 25 years.

“This is a great place to play and it was a playoff atmosphere,” said Samuels after his charges dispatched Hickory, 39-12, Friday at Hornet Stadium. “The kids love the turf.”

While Farrell moved to a perfect 4-0 on the season in the inter-region contest, the Steelers found themselves in a place they hadn’t seen yet this season — behind!
