GROVE CITY – Seven home matches highlight the Grove City College men’s soccer team’s 2021 fall schedule.
The 82nd season of intercollegiate men’s soccer begins Sept. 1 as the Wolverines host Oberlin at Don Lyle Field. It will be the 15th all-time meeting in a series that began in 1940.
Grove City opens the road schedule Sept. 4 by visiting Houghton. The following weekend, the Wolverines will head to central Ohio for a pair of non-conference matches against regional powers Kenyon on Sept. 10 and Ohio Wesleyan the next night. The Wolverines return home to host Penn State Behrend and Buffalo State in back-to-back matches Sept. 15 and 18.
Grove City begins a 5-match road swing that includes 3 conference matches. The road trip starts Sept. 21 at Juniata. Four days later, Grove City makes its second foray of the season into Ohio as the Wolverines visit Mount Union. Presidents’ Athletic Conference action begins Sept. 29 as the Wolverines visit Washington & Jefferson for an 8 p.m. match. The road trip continues Oct. 2 with another 8 p.m. bout at Waynesburg. An Oct. 5 trip across Mercer County occurs when the Wolverines visit Thiel.
The Wolverines will celebrate Homecoming by hosting Geneva Oct. 8 at Don Lyle Field. The men’s soccer program will then hold its annual Hall of Fame alumni match the next morning.
Grove City returns to the road Oct. 13 for a match at arch-rival Westminster. The Wolverines will then close the regular season by having 3 of their final 4 matches at home. Chatham visits Don Lyle Field Oct. 16. After the Oct. 20 road finale at Franciscan, GCC hosts Bethany for Senior Day Oct. 23, then hosts Saint Vincent on the 27th.
The 6-team conference tournament begins with quarterfinal matches Oct. 30. This will be the first year of the 6-team tournament format.
Head Coach Mike Dreves enters his 16th season in charge of the program. Grove City went 7-2 during the spring 2021 season.
