Championship

ä Grove City 54, Loudoun Valley (Va.) — Paced by tourney MVP Jordan Fee, who fired in a game-high 18 points including 12-for-14 free-throw marksmanship, the host Eagles ended as tourney titlists.

Tossing in a trio of treys, Ben Leibling lent 12 points for Grove City (2-0), which rallied from a 12-11 first-quarter deficit to assume a 25-22 margin at intermission, which the Eagles extended to 40-27 through three.

Grove City garnered 17 of 23 freebies (74 percent), compared with the visitors’ 5-for-10.

Leading Loudoun Valley (1-1) was Brad Feickert, who tallied 12 points.

The All-Tourney Team included Grove City’s Max Stutz and Dan Keil, Kennedy Catholic’s Marsell Holden, Loudoun Valley’s Clyde Kessler, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart’s Matt Metcalf.

In addition to MVP Fee, other awards included: Most Promising Young Player — Loudoun Valley’s Conner Trombley; Most Outstanding Player — Feickert; Kiser Hustle Award — Grove City’s Kent Denbow.

ä Kennedy Catholic 57, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 42 — The Golden Eagles (1-1) eased to victory in the consy contest, led by Holden’s team-high 19-point performance, while Kyle Randall and Chris Pacsi posted 11 and 10 points, respectively. Holden tossed in two treys and was a flawless 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Kennedy claimed a 13-11 first-quarter lead then the Golden Eagles extended their edge to 27-20 by the break and 39-30 through three periods as new head coach Bob Patton earned his initial win.

Metcalf mustered a game-high 22 points for OLSH (0-2), and Michael Cercone connected for another 15. They collectively connected for a half-dozen triples.

ä Hickory 80, Commodore Perry 38 — At Saegertown, Matt Durisko bucketed 14 points to lead the Hornets (1-1) to the consolation victory. Also for Hickory, David Lumpp scored 13 and Jordan Benes added a dozen markers.

Clay Sindlinger scored 14 for CP (0-2) while Owen Clawges registered 10 points.

Saegertown and North East were vying for the title.

ä Wilmington 72, Jamestown 60 — The host Muskies were manhandled by Wilmington’s Nick Powell, who posted a game-high 30-point performance, while Mike Milander mustered an additional 21 for the Greyhounds (2-0) of coach Will Harris.

For Jamestown (1-1), which trailed 20-9 at the outset and 35-16 by intermission, Tom Shannon and Ryan Dame scored 12 and 10 points, repectively, for Muskies’ mentor Rich Marshall.

Meadville Tipoff Tourney

Championship

ä Steel Valley 51, George Junior Republic 43 — Steel Valley (2-0) outscored GJR (1-1) 22-6 in the fourth quarter as the Ironmen captured the championship. Carr (15) and Sabo (11) scored in double digits for Steel Valley.

The GJR Tigers were led by Floyd Anthony and Delmar Pritchett, who had 12 points apiece.

Championship

ä Sharon 60, Reynolds 31 — The host Lady Tigers took the title tilt, led by Brittany Csatlos’ 20-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist line and Cara Dolci, who drilled 17 points including a trio of treys.

Sharon (2-0) surged to leads of 13-4 at the quarter, 31-13 by the break, and 49-25 though three periods. Sharon shot 20 for 26 (77 percent) from the free-throw line, led by Csatlos’ 11-for-15 effort and Dolci’s 6-for-6 marksmanship for Tigers taskmaster Gene Sarazen. Also, Candace Smith stroked 11 points.

Starter Aryn Christman (mononucleosis) and regular Danielle Taylor (ankle sprain) did not dress for Sharon, which committed 15 miscues.

Reynolds (1-1) committed 39 miscues against the Lady Tigers’ trapping defenses. Brittany Nelson and Chelsea D’Urso evenly split 16 points. Nelson also notched 9 caroms for coach Bob Chamberlain.

Neither team shot well from the floor, as the Lady Raiders recorded a 10-for-26 (38.4), while Sharon shot 18 for 55 (32.7). Reynolds also turned in 11 for 18 shooting from the charity stripe.

ä Kennedy Catholic 65, Summit Academy 8 — Dierdre Reimold rifled in a game-high 21 points for the Lady Golden Eagles, who made new head coach Gloria Pacsi’s debut a successful one.

Kennedy Catholic (1-0) built bulges of 22-2 at the quarter and 47-2 by the break before coasting during the second half.

ä Lakeview 60, Mercer 32 — Cami Frye poured in a game-high 20 points and Sheena Aden added 19 as the Lady Sailors (2-0) cruised to the tourney title. Aden also registered 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals and Chelsey Frye contributed 7 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Carlene Garthwaite paced Mercer with 12 points. Kristen Jackal had 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Lakeview’s Mary Kollar and Alexandra Powell were named to the All-Tourney team, along with Grove City’s Maggie Orr and Mercer’s Kristen Jackal. Garthwaite was named the tourney’s most outstanding player. Cami Frye was the MVP and Aden earned the Kiser Hustle Award.

ä Mohawk 26, Grove City 22 — The host Lady Eagles (0-2) forced 29 turnovers, but it wasn’t enough in the consy contest against the Lady Warriors (1-1).

Grove City held a 7-2 first-quarter lead, but eventually found itself trailing 20-13 in the third quarter. The Lady Eagles pulled to within 20-18 early in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer.

Maggie Orr led Grove City with 8 points and 5 steals, while Caitlin McNamara had 7 markers and 6 boards.

ä Brookfield 42, Sharpsville 33 (OT) — At Sharpsville, the Lady Warriors (2-0) outscored Sharpsville 9-0 in the extra session, but the Blue Darlings’ Kasey Gardner surpassed the 1,000-point career plateau.

Gardner bucketed 16 points to give her 1,012. She also added 13 rebounds for a double-double. Brittany Totin registered 4 steals for Sharpsville (0-1).

Brookfield (2-0) was led by Morgan Bonekovic, who bucketed a game-high 22 points.

ä West Middlesex 48, Linesville 44 — At Linesville, the Ms. Reds (1-0) trailed 14-9 after the opening quarter but rallied to notch a season-opening victory over the Lady Lions (1-1),

Danielle Thompson led the way for West Middlesex with 19 points, which included a trio of three-pointers.

Justine Yoder bucketed 19 for Linesville, which defeated Commodore Perry (49-36) on Friday night, while teammate Kaylyn Hershelman added 10 points.
