Mercer's Taylor Moon bumps a pass to a teammate on Senior Night at Mercer High where the Lady M's took on Commodore Perry.

Hickory High senior Billy Colbert finished in a 2-way tie for 17th place at the PIAA Class AA Golf Championships at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, Pa.

Colbert shot an 83 on Monday and followed it up Tuesday with a 79 to finish with 162 strokes. He tied with Ryan Koenig of Eden Christian High.

Colbert, the District 10 champ, advanced to the state tourney for the 2nd straight year after placing 16th in the Western Regional Championship in Blairsville. He placed 18th last year in the state championships.

Sophomore Jason Li of Sewickley Academy fired a 72-73–145 to capture the state title. Li finished 4 strokes ahead of New Hope-Solebury senior Roland Massimino.

GIRLS SOCCER

- Grove City 9, West Middlesex 0 – The Lady Eagles built a 3-0 lead at half and rolled after the intermission Monday night. Scoring goals were Grace Dadzaa (2), Kyleigh Hyduchak, Rachel Schmidt(2), Camryn Skibinski, Jessee Treiber and Anna Williams(2).

Assists were by Julie DiStasi, Elizabeth Hernandez, Kyleigh Hyduchak, Ashley McNabb, Josie Skibinski and Treiber.

Abby Fulkerson pitched the shutout in goal.

BOYS SOCCER

- Hickory 4, Commodore Perry 0 – Under the lights at Hornet Stadium, freshman Brandon Beader notched his 10 shutout to set a single-season school record as the Hornets (11-7) blanked the Panthers.

Beader broke the previous record of 9, which was set by Mark Duvall in both 2007 and ’08.

Matt Costello had a hat trick to lead Hickory, while Parker Redmond scored the other goal. Gerald Koledin and Evan Montgomery each had 1 assist.

- West Middlesex 3, Farrell 0 – At E.J. McCluskey Gymnasium, Megan Hazlett posted 18 serving points (8 aces) and 18 assists in leading the Ms. Reds (6-1, 10-5) to a 26-24, 25-21, 25-14 win.
