BATAVIA, N.Y. (AP) – Troy Johnston hit a two-run double in the eighth inning, leading the Batavia Muckdogs to a 4-1 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Monday.

The double by Johnston, part of a three-run inning, gave the Muckdogs a 3-1 lead before Andrew Turner hit an RBI double later in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Batavia broke a scoreless tie on a solo home run by Nic Ready. Mahoning Valley answered in the next half-inning when Bryan Lavastida hit an RBI single, bringing home Johnathan Rodriguez.

Evan Brabrand (2-0) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Andrew Misiaszek (0-1) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game.

The Scrappers return home for a three-game series against the State College Spikes. The opener of the series is set for 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Eastwood Field.
