Former Greenville High track & field standout Elijah Dangrow is part of the Penn State Behrend pole vault team that is listed as the No. 1 event squad in NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track and Field based on the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings. 

Team members Nick Lachut, Kyle Grimm, and Dangrow had top marks at the Jim Wuske Invitational hosted by Mount Union. Lachut and Grimm had career-best heights of 4.81 meters and 4.61 meters, respectively. Dangrow cleared 4.46 meters, an indoor PR. Georgetson had his top mark (4.51 meters) at the Robert Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell.

The men’s team is ranked 4th in the Mideast Region this week while the women broke the Top 10, ranking 9th.

  Grove City College men’s tennis team enters its spring schedule with high expectations after a solid 2019 autumn.

Head Coach Henry Boyle will use a 12-man roster as the Wolverines look to reclaim the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title. The Wolverines advanced to the 2019 PAC title match and have been selected as the  preseason favorite, according to the coaches’ poll.

Edward Doyle  and Paul Hodge, Alex Kidd and Graham Shuman comprise the veteran nucleus of this year’s squad.

A 3-year letterwinner, Doyle earned 2nd-Team All-PAC honors last season. He also earned All-PAC laurels in doubles play earlier in his career.

A 1st-Team All-PAC singles honoree last year, Hodge will again likely be a fixture in both the singles and doubles lineup. Kidd will compete for a full-time lineup spot this year after compiling a 7-6 singles record last year. Shuman merited All-PAC Honorable Mention in doubles last season as a rookie. 

Karsten Lagerquist returns at the top of the lineup after playing 1st singles and doubles as a freshman. He is one of the PAC’s top returning players.

Eric Riddle is expected to compete for a full-time spot in the lineup after playing as a reserve last year. Andrew Rodenbeck capped his rookie season by earning All-PAC recognition at 6th singles. Ryne Talko will join Lagerquist in the top portion of the singles lineup after a strong fall season. Other rookies Isaac Lawrence,  Adam Scharnagl, Jonathan Sralla and Federico Van Tienhoven are also expected to challenge for time, according to Boyle.

The spring schedule started Wednesday against Otterbein. The home schedule begins March 18 against University of Mount Union. League play commences 2 days later when the Wolverines host Thiel.
