The Penn State Shenango men’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday night with a 71-48 rout over Penn State Fayette in Lemont Furnace, Pa. The local Lions are now 1-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) and 1-4 overall.
Penn State Shenango led 32-22 at the end of the 1st half and outscored Penn State Fayette 39-26 in the 2nd half.
Tyler James led the way for Penn State Shenango with a 17-point, 10-rebound double double. Tyrone Steals scored 13 points while Ramell Askerneese (Sharon High) and Jamison Tubbs added 8 points each.
Dominic Boring was the leading scorer for Penn State Fayette (0-1, 1-5) with 13 points while Junior Salauca grabbed 15 rebounds.
Penn State Shenango returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when it hosts Penn State Mont Alto. It is the first of a 3-game homestand for the Lions, who host Penn State York at 2 p.m. Saturday and Penn State DuBois at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Following those games, Penn State Shenango will play 5 straight road games against Penn State Schuylkill, Penn State Hazleton, Penn State Greater Allegheny, Ashland and Fredonia State.
