DUBOIS – Penn State Shenango got off to a slow start on Tuesday night against Penn State DuBois, not able to score their first point until the 12:53 mark of the first half and already down by 14 points.
The local Lions recovered but couldn’t overcome the deficit, eventually falling 70-59.
Penn State DuBois was led by former Shenango Lion Russell Gariepy, who recorded 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Tre’von Williams came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 16 points, going 7-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-3 from behind the arc.
Penn State Shenango was led by a quartet of players who all scored 11 points – Brayden Martin (Grove City High, Devonte Carter, BJ Williams and Malcolm Rouse.
The Lions now fall a half game behind second-place Penn State Greater Allegheny by virtue of their Tuesday night road win at Penn State Fayette. Penn State Shenango is now 9-12 overall and 9-6 in the PSUAC.
Penn State Shenango returns to the court on Saturday at the Buhl Recreation Center in Sharon to face Penn State Fayette (8-14, 6-10). Tip off is slated for 2 p.m.
