SHIPPENSBURG – At Heiges Fieldhouse Sunday, the Penn State Shenango women’s volleyball team took a significant step forward in the development of Head Coach Nicole Nych’s first-year program.

The Lady Lions (0-1 PSUAC, 0-3 overall) battled Penn State Mont Alto (1-0, 4-2) and lost in 4 sets – 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-16.

Jenna Bornemiss, a freshman setter from Girard, Ohio, led the Lady Lions with 16 assists and 16 digs. Olivia Vogel (Brookfield High), a freshman middle hitter, had 11 kills while freshman outside hitter Robin Reynolds (Grove City High) posted 8 kills and 14 digs.

Kylie Mark led Penn State Mont Alto with 9 kills while Katie Muse contributed 16 assists.

PSU Shenango returns to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Penn State Greater Allegheny (0-0, 0-3) in McKeesport.
