“This is the first time we’ve ever won the region, so I’m excited and very proud of the team,” said Fattman. “They wanted to get it done and they made it happen.

“The girls are always working hard and striving to be better and they got it done as a team. I always tell them ‘This is bigger than you,’ and they accomplished it as a team. It was a very emotional night. I played here and they accomplished my dreams.”

• West Middlesex 23, Lakeview 34 – At Stoneboro, the visiting Big Reds recorded the road win, led by the 1-2 placement of Luke Mantzell (18:09) and Giovanni Racoci (18:35). Ethan Barrick (18:45) led Lakeview).

• Grove City 18, Hickory 42 – On the Delahunty Middle School campus in Hermitage, Toby Jones (16:18) and Gabe Nichols (16:26) went 1-2 to lead the visiting Eagles, while Cole Frazier finished 3rd (16:30) for Hickory (5-1).

According to Hickory co-Head Coach Patti Rodenbaugh, Jones’ clocking was the 2nd-fastest time recorded on Hickory’s course.

• Sharpsville 27, Greenville 29 – At Greenville, Jacob Eppley finished 1st overall for the Trojans. Tyler Miodrag led Sharpsville with a 2nd-place finish.

AAC Blue Tier Meet

Brookfield hosted the All-American Conference Blue Tier Meet on Tuesday. Champion (21) won the event, followed by LaBrae (44) and Brookfield (73).

Max Cesta and Kyle Atkinson of Champion took 1st and 2nd respectively. Cesta’s time was 19:31.30 while Atkinson clocked in at 19:43.25.

John Webb (21:05.49) finished 6th for Brookfield.

GIRLS

• Lakeview 23, West Middlesex 38 – At Stoneboro, Claire Oliver led Lakeview with a 1st-place finish in 20:10, while West Middlesex’s Lia Bartholomew ended as runner-up. She clocked in at 21:00.

• Hickory 22, Grove City 33 – On the Delahunty Middle School campus in Hermitage, Logan Davis (20:50) and Ashleigh Stephenson (21:38) went 1-2 for host Hickory (3-3). Karissa Dunkerley placed 3rd (21:52)for Grove City.

• Greenville 20, Sharpsville 35 – At Greenville, Macy Blatt, Josie Lewis and Sara Daly swept the top 3 spots for Greenville. Lyndzie Springer placed 4th for the Lady Blue Devils.

AAC Blue Tier Meet

Brookfield’s Isabella Foust finished 1st in the girls race in a time of 22:59.55. Emilee Bebech placed 6th (24:47.22) for the Lady Warriors.

Champion (22) took 1st as a team and Brookfield was 2nd (38).

ICE HOCKEY

• Neshannock 5, Burrell 0 – At the Pittsburgh Ice Arena, New Kensington, Neshannock (2-0) notched its 2nd straight success.

After a slow start the Lancers scored 2 goals in the closing 2 1/2 minutes of the 1st period. Tommy Malvar (Kennedy Catholic) picked up the first, after taking a pass from Davey Cochenour. Then with just 1.5 seconds left, Jonathan Michaels (Mercer) beat the Bucs’ goaltender to give Neshannock a 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st. Terence Rice and Teddy Saad assisted  Michaels on the play.

The Lancers scored the lone 2nd-period goal when Rice found Saad who gave the Lancers a 3-0 lead at the ice cut. In the 3rd period, Malvar and Saad each picked up their 2nd tallies. Michael Benson was credited with an assist on Malvar’s goal and Nolan Earl helped on Saad’s.

Lancers’ goalie Riley Mastowski (Kennedy Catholic High) was perfect in net, stopping all 26 shots he faced against Burrell.

Neshannock is back in action on Monday when it takes on Erie McDowell (0-1) at Hess Ice Rink, Neshannock Twp. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
