Grove City’s Mary Coulter returns to Greenville’s Naomi Martin at No. 1 singles during Tuesday’s match in Greenville.

GIRLS TENNIS

• Greenville 3, Grove City 2 – At Greenville, Anna Cooper and Anna Packard picked up singles’ wins while Patience Spier-MacPherson and Kylie Hyde won at 1st doubles as the Lady Trojans edged GC.

For the Lady Eagles, Mary Coulter picked up a win at 1st singles and Selah Severson and Katie Feng teamed up to win at 2nd doubles.

• Fairview 4, Hickory 1 – At Hickory Tennis Center in Hermitage, the visiting Lady Tigers took all 3 singles matches en route to the Region 3A road win.

The teams split the doubles matches, with seniors Lauren Ordinario and Leah Martin mustering the lone win for Hickory (2-2, 7-2).

“We have three freshmen, a sophomore and a junior in our starting lineup, and we know that matches such as this will positively contribute to their overall improvement as the season progresses,” summarized Hickory co-Head Coach Ed Newmeyer.

Region 1 Mega-Match

• At par-72 Pine Hill Golf Course, Lakeview wrapped up the Region 1 title and was led by Brett Beith, who earned medalist honors by shooting 81.

Beith was 2 strokes better than Kennedy Catholic’s Charlie Gonzalez, and Cam McFeely fired an 84 for the victorious Sailors, also.

Lakeview (344) outlasted host Greenville (375), Mercer (382), Kennedy Catholic (394), Reynolds (405) and Jamestown. 

Coach Ralph Sundelin and Lakeview have compiled 30 points in the R1 standings, followed by Mercer (20), Reynolds (18), Kennedy Catholic (17), Greenville (16) and Jamestown (3).

McKenzie Gustas fired a 70 to lead Hickory to the win at Deer Creek Golf Club in Hubbard. The Hornets finished with a 229 team score.

Hickory was followed by Reynolds (283), Conneaut Area (302), Sharpsville (312), West Middlesex (318) and Grove City (327).

Alaina Harpst shot an 89 for Reynolds, Bella Vennare led CASH with a 99, Stacia Fennell (93) led Sharpsville, Gianna Effinite (87) paced WM and Emily Donahue carded a 98 for Grove City.

• Hickory 15, Sharon 50 – At Buhl Farm Park, Hickory’s Cole Frazier finished 1st in 18:58 as Hickory swept the top 10 berths. Sharon is 0-3.

• Wilmington 17, Greenville 40 – At New Wilmington, Dale Nestor (20:40), Clay Kelliher, Dylan Lynch and Beau Reed swept the top 4 spots for the Hounds. Jacob Eppley finished 5th for the Trojans in 21:22.

• West Middlesex 20, Commodore Perry 41 – At Sheakleyville, Luke Mantzell (18:45) and Drake Muir (19:05) finished 1-2 for the Big Reds. Noah Krantz clocked in at 19:11 to place 3rd for the Panthers.

• Brookfield finished last (234 points) in Tuesday’s Sububan League meet in Niles. Badger’s Lincoln Hopkins was 1st in 17:54. No Brookfield runner was listed in the top 25. Niles won the 10-team meet with 39 points.

GIRLS

• Sharon 24, Hickory 32 – At Buhl Farm Park, Gianna Labbiento led the field for undefeated Sharon (3-0) as she finished in 21:43, 1 second ahead of Lady Tigers’ teammates Abby Douglas and Natalie Ostheimer.

• Wilmington 24, Greenville 35 – At New Wilmington, Hounds’ ace Grace Mason clocked in at 21:56 to finish 1st overall. Macy Blatt of Greenville took 2nd (23:53).

• West Middlesex 15, Commodore Perry 50 – At Sheakleyville, Lea Bartholomew (21:48) and Emma Pringle (23:23) swept the top 2 spots for the Ms. Reds. Hannah Courtney placed 3rd for CP in 25:24.

• Brookfield girls placed 3rd at the Suburban League meet in Niles. They had 83 points. Girard placed 1st among 6 teams with 33 points.

Badger’s Suzanne Shafer (23:30) finished 1st. Isabella Foust took 5th for Brookfield in 25:39.

BOYS SOCCER 

• Sharon 3, Neshannock 0 – At Tiger Stadium, Sharon moved to 3-0 with the win.

Ty Chartraw, Colton Weigle and Payton Burns had goals for the Tigers. Nick Leftheris and Kenny Winicki each had 1 assist.

Nik Hunchuk made 8 saves in posting the shutout for the Tigers. Neshannock’s Tim Wilkinson also made 8 saves.

• Sharpsville 8, Wilmington 0 – At South Py Twp., the Blue Devils improved to 3-0 with the win.

• Hickory 11, West Middlesex 0 – At Hornet Stadium, Brady Robison fired in 5 goals and had 2 assists to lead the Hornets past the Big Reds.

Paul Morelli and Nick Scarvel had 2 goals each for Hickory and Christian Evanglista and Antonio Giuseppi also scored.

Morelli, Guiseppi, Mitchell French and Casey Mataria had 1 assist each. Julian Hudson, John Koprivnak and Matt Maitland combined for the shutout in goal.

• West Middlesex 5, Keystone 3 – At Knox Monday, the visiting Big Reds (1-2) recorded the road win. 

Nolan and Braedon Smith, Garrett Donaldson, Elijah Asche, and Tyler Ammann garnered goals, and West Middlesex goalkeeper Anthony Gioan made 28 saves.

• Fairview 6, Wilmington 0 – At Fairview Monday, the Tigers (4-1) handed the Lady Hounds (3-1) their first loss of the season.

Lily Sanders led Fairview with 3 goals while Lizzie Lennox scored twice. Jordan Basile posted the shutout in goal.
