GIRLS BASKETBALL

• Slippery Rock 52, Grove City 30 – At Slippery Rock’s “Rock Box,” the host Lady Rockets rolled to the program’s 6th consecutive regular-season region crown.

Fueled by a 19-4 first-quarter spree, Slippery Rock never trailed in the Region 5 affair. Slippery Rock swept the home-and-home backyard rivalry.

Hallie Raabe and Anna Kadlubek connected for 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Slippery Rock (10-0, 11-2). Emma Santom scored 9 for Grove City (9-2, 11-2).

• Hickory 39, Oil City 32 – At the “House of Hustle” in Venango County, the visiting Hornets had a sizable advantage from the free-throw line en route to the Region 5 road win.

Hickory hit on 18 of 41 attempts from the sin stripe, while Oil City shot just 4 freebies, sinking 3.

Aniyah Anderson annexed a game-high 20-point, 12-rebound double-double for Hickory (7-3, 8-9), and Madison Jones joined in with 11 rebounds. Coach Matt Fabian reported Malana Beach bucketed a late trey to give the Hornets some insurance.

Oil City (0-10, 2-16) was led by Jenna Fischli and Emma Stahl, who scored 11 points apiece. Fischli fired in a trio of triples.

• Farrell 64, Sharon 42 – At Tiger Gymnasium, Gabby King bucketed 19 points and Jaylie Green scored 17 to lead Coach Ed Turosky’s Region 1 Steelers (12-4) past Region 4 Sharon (5-13).

Deryah Stewart added 14 points for Farrell and Sanaa Brodie contributed 10 markers.

For Sharon, Thoniece Ripley drained 4 treys en route to a game-high 21 points and Jaysina Sellers, who joined the 1,000-point club on Saturday, scored 15 points.

• Greenville 58, Cochranton 53 – At Greenville, the Region 4 Lady Trojans (12-2) rebounded from Saturday’s loss to Harbor Creek with a win over Region 2 Cochranton (5-7).

Cochranton led 12-11 at the end of the opening quarter, but Greenville rallied to take a 27-18 lead at the break. Cochranton outscored the Trojans 35-31 in the 2nd half.

Jaidah Rosario led the way for Greenville with 23 points, Josie Lewis added 11 points, and Grace Cano contributed 10.

Jaylin McGill had 16 points for Cochranton, Lexie Moore bucketed 14, and Megan Heim 11.

• Monday’s Lakeview at Sharpsville Region 4 game was postponed due to a gas leak. The game will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday. Varsity only.

BOYS BASKETBALL

• Reynolds 36, West Middlesex 34 – At Transfer, the host Raiders avenged an earlier Region 1 setback. Reynolds led 27-20 entering the final frame, then had to fend off the visiting Big Reds’ 14-point rally.

Aidan Mull mustered 15 markers and Nick Loposky lent 10 – tossing in 2 treys – for Reynolds (4-5, 4-5). Richie Preston pumped in 15 points for West Middlesex (8-5, 8-8). 

Reynolds recorded 8-for-14 free-throw shooting, while West Middlesex went 2-for-9.

• Farrell 72, Jamestown 43 – At Jamestown, the visiting Steelers stormed to the Region 1 road win. Farrell forged a 45-24 margin at intermission over the Muskies.

Trian Holden hit for a career-best 18 points for Farrell (8-4, 8-7), while Jaiman Holden (14), Omar Stewart (12) and Christian Hartley (10) also contributed double-digit scoring.

Jamestown (2-10, 6-11) was led by Cameron Keyser’s 12 points, while Peyton McElhinny manufactured another 9.

• Greenville 57, Meadville 55 – At “The House of Thrills” in Meadville, Coach Scot Vannoy’s Region 4 Trojans (9-9) posted an impressive win over the Region 6 Bulldogs (10-6).

Meadville led 14-8 after 8 minutes and the Trojans were up 26-24 at halftime. Greenville outscored Meadville 21-11 in the 3rd quarter. The Bulldogs held a 20-10 scoring advantage in the final frame.

Benny Cano rifled in 21 points to lead Greenville, Brady Kincaid scored 10, and Logan Lentz added 7 points.

Sam Burchard (16 points), Alex McElhinny (10), Khalon Simmons (8), and Charlie Waid (8) led Meadville, which sank 10 treys in the game.

• New Castle 93, Sharon 43 – At NeCaHi Field House, the host Red Hurricane rolled to a 49-19 halftime lead, then coasted during the 2nd half.

Sheldon Cox collected 16 points to pace a half-dozen double-digit scorers that also included Mike Wells and Andre Jackson (13 apiece), Isiah Boice (12), and Jon Anderson and Chris Hood (10 each). For Sharon (5-11), Brett Salsgiver scored 28 points.

• Today’s Kennedy Catholic at Lakeview game has been postponed until March 1.
