• West Middlesex 9, Mercyhurst Prep 4 – At Erie Saturday, the Region 1 champion Big Reds improved to 14-1 with the win over the Region 5 Lakers (13-3).

Both teams had 8 hits. WM committed 2 errors while Mercyhurst Prep, which has clinched at least a share of the Region 5 title, made 5 errors.

West Middlesex scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning, 3 in the 4th and tacked on 2 more runs in the 7th inning. Mercyhurst Prep plated 1 run in both the 3rd and 4th innings and 2 more in the bottom of the 7th frame.

Logan Hurley went the distance on the mound for the Big Reds. He struck out 7 batters and only issued 1 walk.

Alex Stefanovski (4 innings), Caleb Bish (2 1/3) and Hayden Zaffino pitched for Mercyhurst Prep. Stefanovski took the loss. He fanned 2, walked 2 and gave up 7 runs on 5 hits.

Chase Tomko had 2 hits and 2 RBI to lead WM at the plate, Dom Stinedurf and Zach Long ripped doubles, Jake Bowen had 2 singles, Kaz Hoffman and Garrett Donaldson both had a single and an RBI and Alex Kachulis was credited with an RBI.

For Mercyhurst Prep, Zack Danias had 2 singles and an RBI and Zaffino singled and drove in a run.

• Hickory 16, Reynolds 1 (5 inn.) – At Transfer Saturday, Asher Patton and Kyle Moyer combined to pitch a no-hitter and Clay Wiesen, Hayden Gallagher and Zach Lordo belted home runs as the Region 2 Hornets (11-2) rolled past the Region 3 Raiders (2-15). 

Patton struck out 4, walked 2 and gave up the lone unearned run in 3 innings. Moyer fanned 3 and issued 1 walk.

Gallagher homered, doubled, singled and drove in 4 runs for Hickory, Wiesen homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Lordo hit a 2-run homer.

Also for Hickory, David Greenburg ripped a pair of singles and drove in 2 runs, Cameron Whalen doubled, singled and drove in a pair, Connor Evans doubled and Nick Osborne and Jorge Leedham were both credited with an RBI.

Nathan McDowell, Jordan Crumbacher, Dominic Bertolasio, Lee Walter, Haden Obenrader, Patrick Belback and Jacob Moser split time on the mound for Reynolds. They combined on 3 strikeouts, 10 walks and gave up 13 hits.

McDowell scored the lone run for Reynolds.

Hickory has a big Region 2 game on Monday when it plays at Franklin. The Knights are 7-0 in the region while Hickory is 6-1. They will be region co-champs if the Hornets grab the win.

• Grove City 3, Titusville 2 – At Forese Field in Grove City’s Memorial Park, the Region 6 Eagles (8-9) only had 2 hits but pulled off the win against the Region 2 Rockets (9-9).

Titusville, which only had 5 hits, scored both of its runs in the top of the 5th inning. Grove City scored a run in the bottom of the 1st inning and tacked on 2 more runs in the 4th frame.

Dylan McElhinney went the distance on the mound for Grove City. He struck out 5 batters and issued 2 walks.

Carter Chinn doubled for the Eagles and Mason Jones singled and drove in a run.

Mike Obert (4 innings) and Garrett Knapp pitched for Titusville. Obert fanned 7, walked 5 and gave up all 3 runs on 2 hits. Knapp struck out 1 hitter and walked 1.

Tanner Abrams doubled and singled for Titusville, Derek Beach doubled and drove in a run and Andrew Fish ripped a single and drove in a run.
