Springfield celebrated a 3-peat as Ohio Men’s Senior Baseball League Legends Division champions via a recent 9-8 victory over the Kent Mud Hens.
Coached by Pat Pruent, Springfield ended 15-3 overall, including a 6-5, 12-inning tournament semifinals win over the New Philadelphia Phillies and the title tilt triumph over the Mud Hens at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium, Canton, Ohio. Springfield and the Mud Hens split 4 regular-season games.
In the championship game Springfield was led by Jack Hay’s complete-game pitching performance (approximately 140 pitches), the hitting of Don Christian, Dave Warren and Howard Merritt, and the defense of shortstop Nick Simko, left fielder John Jewell and center fielder Dave Bindas.
